L’AQUILA CONGRATULATES OBAMA, BUT STILL WAITS FOR WHAT HE PROMISED AFTER THE EARTHQUAKE

Three years ago the G8 summit took place in L’Aquila (Italy), the city which had been struck by an earthquake few months before (April, 6 2009). During G8, leaders of each country promised to ‘adopt’ a monument of L’Aquila and to give a donation to restore it.
Barack Obama and United States choose the Church of Santa Maria Paganica and promised a donation of 4.5 million dollars to restore it.

Now, more than three years later, the mayor of L’Aquila, Massimo Cialente, in a recent interview with Radio 24 said that the money never arrived (just like happened with Great Britain and other coutries).

Everybody in Italy is thankful to President Obama for visiting Abruzzo just after the earthquake and for bringing the attention of the world on the problems of L’Aquila, but now people expect him to keep his promise.
